Patient Response to Stress & Considerations for CBD Topicals

As healthcare professionals, the constant adaptation to provide our patients with the highest level of care is a responsibility we cannot overlook. In this week’s episode of our PHYTO-ZOL Webinar Series, Dr. Jeffrey Tucker dives into the sources of patient stress and how CBD can enhance recovery.

How Does CBD Intersect With Stress Treatment?

When implementing new treatment techniques into our practice, we often prefer strategies that are easy for the patient to do but offer a high return. Often, seemingly ordinary activities like diet and exercise may be the change a patient needs to help relieve some of their stress and discomfort. Topicals fall into this category. CBD topicals are easily absorbed through the skin, sending signals directly to the brain to identify the substance and activate the appropriate receptors. Because PHYTO-ZOL has such powerful absorption properties, it is a preferred choice.

What Types of Bodily Stress Does it Help?

Stress is carried in the body differently by everyone. CBD topicals can help alleviate stress and tension that presents itself in the following areas:

  • Back Problems
  • Foot & Ankle Problems
  • Headaches
  • Hip Problems
  • Sleeping Issues
  • Knee Problems
  • Shoulder Problems
  • Numbness
  • Breathing Problems

Each of these bodily reactions is often built up by accumulated stress over time, and the solution to dissolving it includes more than just physical treatment. The source of these stresses is typically a strained relationship, difficulty at work or home, or some other perceived problem. To resolve this, as a practitioner it is important to ask questions that encourage your patients to open up about whatever is plaguing them and talk through possible solutions. A release of the emotional burden will help loosen some of the bodily tension. On the physical side, physical therapy exercises are recommended to loosen up any tightness and strengthen any weakened muscles that may be playing a role in the patient’s pain and discomfort. These exercises should be simple enough that a patient can do them without guidance, but challenging enough to ensure they are making progress.

CBD should be integrated into this regimen as a partner, or enhancer, of these other activities. For a typical patient experiencing discomfort, Dr. Jeffrey Tucker recommends starting with a power dose and scaling back to a regular application after. A power dose starts in the office – give your patient their first application while they are with you, and show them how to properly apply the topical, and then have them apply the gel each hour for the first 4 hours afterward. Start with this dosage to help activate the interaction between PHYTO-ZOL and the affected area, helping to increase relief. For long-term use, apply the CBD topical to affected areas before and after completing the exercise regimen, to ease discomfort and assist in recovery.

No matter where your patient holds their stress, PHYTO-ZOL can help. Our breakthrough formula, made from hemp-derived CBD is formulated in a Locally Enhanced Transdermal Serum (L.E.T.S) that is scientifically proven to penetrate the layers of the skin, delivering a greater amount of active ingredient to the local area of joint and muscle discomfort.
